Write a script with AI

Start a new project from an idea

1. Click + New project. On the Create page, type or paste your idea into the box: a logline, a scene, anything that sets the story. (To bring in a finished script word for word, use + Upload script instead; see Import a script.)
2. Submit it and AI writes a complete script: scenes with INT./EXT. headings, shots under each, and dialogue with named speakers, usually a few scenes.
3. You land on the script with the characters and places it found saved as Elements beside it. Pick an aspect ratio and a style, then Generate shots when you are ready to draw frames.

Add shots to a script you're writing

1. In the Script view, click AI Script in the rail (on a phone, Write script with AI above the script).
2. Under Describe your idea, write what the new pages should cover (up to 5,000 characters). Type @ to name a character from your Elements and # to point at an existing shot, so the writing stays consistent with what's already there: e.g. @Maya finds the letter from shot #2.3 and confronts Ben.
3. Tick Use your synopsis as context if the Story Bible has one.
4. Choose where to Insert: Beginning of script, End of script, or After Shot 2.3. Set Number of shots; the maximum is what your plan has room for in this project.
5. Click Generate. Generating your script... runs for typically 10 to 20 seconds, then the new shots appear at the chosen spot, each with action and any dialogue, speakers already linked to your elements.

What it writes

• From the Create page: a whole script for a new project: scenes with INT./EXT. headings, shots under each, dialogue with named speakers, and the characters and locations it finds saved as Elements.
• From the Script view: whole shots only, in the scene where you inserted them: one action paragraph per shot and dialogue on its own lines. It does not create scenes and never touches existing shots, so generate a few, read them, delete what does not work and generate again.

Neither draws frames by itself: generate those from the Storyboard, or with Generate shots after creating a project from an idea.

Troubleshooting

• "The script came back empty. Please try again." or "Unable to generate script. Please try again." Generate once more; if it repeats, shorten or clarify the description.
• "Free plans can access up to 10 shots per project." The shot count is capped by the room left in the project; delete shots or upgrade to remove the limit.
