Content Licence

StoryTribe offers a diverse library of captivating content for use in storyboarding, including illustrations, icons, images, and fonts (“Content”). By utilising any piece of Content, you are agreeing to be bound by the terms of this Content Licence Agreement, the StoryTribe Privacy Policy, and StoryTribe's Terms and Conditions. The defined terms used in this agreement hold the same meaning as provided in our Terms and Conditions.

1. General Terms

StoryTribe provides an extensive collection of remarkable Content for incorporation into your storyboards, encompassing illustrations, icons, images, fonts, and templates (“Content”). By utilising any piece of Content in a StoryTribe storyboard, you are bound by the terms of this agreement.

  • If you do not agree to the terms of this agreement, please refrain from using any Content.
  • StoryTribe reserves the right to modify or cancel the licences granted by this agreement. We also reserve the right to substitute the Content with an alternative.
  • All Content provided by StoryTribe is protected by international copyright and other applicable intellectual property laws. StoryTribe retains all rights not explicitly granted to you under this licence, including all copyright and intellectual property rights.

2. Content Licences

  • For image content, please refer to the Unsplash licence.
  • For font content, please refer to Google Fonts information page.
  • For Noun Project content, please refer to Noun Project legal pages.

3. Citation

When using StoryTribe Content in any cases, you must acknowledge that the content is created using StoryTribe by using the following citations.

  • For web materials, include the phrase 'Created with StoryTribe,' which should be visible. Include a direct URL link to StoryTribe website.
  • For social media content, include the phrase 'Created with StoryTribe' either in the image/video content itself or in the post description.
  • For printed materials, reference 'Created with StoryTribe’

4. Permitted uses which are included in the Free Plan

The following are the permitted actions and creations allowed on the Free Plan under this Agreement for StoryTribe designs containing content.

Personal Artwork: You can make art just for yourself, like drawings, paintings, or digital designs that you keep for your enjoyment.

Social Media Posts: You're allowed to use the storyboards you make on StoryTribe for posting on your social media accounts, like Instagram, Facebook, or Youtube.

Personal Presentations: If you're giving a presentation for school or just to show something to your friends, you can use the storyboards you create.

Homework and School Projects: You can use StoryTribe storyboards for your school projects or homework assignments.

Creative Learning: If you're learning about art or design, you can practise and create things using StoryTribe.

Personal Blogs and Websites: You can use StoryTribe storyboards on your personal blog or website, up to 10,000 monthly visits. If your blog or website exceeds this, reach out to us for additional options: [email protected]

Educational Presentations: If you're a teacher or a student, you can use StoryTribe storyboards to make your educational presentations more interesting.

Non-Profit Events: If you're organising an event for a non-profit organisation, you can use StoryTribe storyboards for materials like posters or invitations.

Educational Workshops: If you're hosting workshops to teach others, you can use StoryTribe storyboards to make your teaching materials more engaging.

Creative Personal Gifts: You can use StoryTribe storyboards to create unique and creative gifts for your friends or family.


5. Permitted commercial uses on Yearly Subscription Plan

In order to use StoryTribe Content commercially in the following cases you must purchase a yearly subscription plan. You cannot create or edit StoryTribe Content with an intention to use commercially while you’re on a free plan.

You cannot use the StoryTribe Logo on your creation; however, you must cite StoryTribe using the permitted citation specified in section 3.

Promotional Materials for Your Business: If you have your own business, you can use StoryTribe storyboards to make things like flyers or brochures to tell people about what you do, with a maximum quantity of 200 copies. If you'd like to print more than 200 copies, please reach out to [email protected]

Small Business Marketing: If you have a small business, you can use StoryTribe storyboards for marketing materials like social media posts or small ads.

Client Presentations: If you have a business and you're showing your work to a client, you can use StoryTribe storyboards to help explain your ideas. However, it is expressly prohibited to engage in the sale of storyboarding services to clients. StoryTribe storyboards are meant solely for helping you explain your ideas internally, not for commercial storyboarding services.

Portfolio Showcasing: If you want to show off your work to potential clients or employers, you can use StoryTribe storyboards in your portfolio.

Commercial Social Media Posts: You can create and share social media posts for your own company or on behalf of your clients using StoryTribe Content.


6. Prohibited uses of any Content on StoryTribe

Typically, commercial uses on StoryTribe Content, including sub-licensing, reproduction, and creating merchandise for resale, are prohibited.

However, you can purchase a commercial licence to sell StoryTribe Content in specific environments where StoryTribe determines that the purpose aligns with the StoryTribe brand. The pricing will vary depending on your specific use cases and the number of illustrations you plan to use.

For pricing and further discussion, please reach out to us at [email protected] with the following information: your name, work email address, phone number, company name, target audience and use cases, expected number of illustrations to be used, illustration sizes, and any other relevant details.

The following actions are strictly prohibited and cannot be undertaken with any Content available on StoryTribe:

🚫 Sub-license, re-sell, rent, lend, assign, gift, or otherwise transfer or distribute the Content.

🚫 Make excessive copies or reproductions of the Content, beyond what would be considered reasonable for personal or limited commercial use.

🚫 Create large quantities of merchandise, such as T-shirts, mugs, or posters, featuring the Content generated through StoryTribe for the purpose of resale or distribution.

🚫 Utilise any of the Content as part of a trademark, design mark, trade name, business name, or service mark (excluding fonts).

🚫 Use the Content to directly compete with or replicate existing commercial products, services, or brands, potentially leading to trademark infringement or unfair competition.

🚫 Attempt to sell or sublicense the Content to other individuals or businesses for their commercial use.

🚫 Incorporate the Content into digital products for direct sale or distribution, such as e-books, website templates, or mobile app themes, without appropriate licensing or permissions.

🚫 Modify or alter the Content to create derivative works without proper authorisation, especially if the modifications infringe upon intellectual property rights or violate copyright laws.

🚫 Display or use the Content on its own on websites or other platforms designed to facilitate the sale, licensing, or distribution of "on-demand" products, including items like postcards, mugs, t-shirts, posters, and similar items.

🚫 Employ the Content in a pornographic, obscene, immoral, infringing, defamatory, or libellous manner, or in any way that could bring any individual or property depicted in the Content into disrepute.

🚫 Use the Content in a manner that promotes hate speech, violence, discrimination, or any other form of offensive or inappropriate content.

🚫 Use the Content in a manner that portrays any person depicted in the content negatively or offensively. This includes, but is not limited to, using images: a) in pornography or adult content; b) in advertisements for tobacco products; c) in promotional materials for adult entertainment clubs, escort, dating, or similar services; d) in connection with political endorsements; e) in advertisements or promotional materials for pharmaceutical, healthcare, herbal, or medical products, including dietary supplements, digestive aids, herbal supplements, personal hygiene or birth control products; f) in uses that are defamatory, unlawful, offensive, or immoral, or that violate any applicable industry codes or regulations. Additionally, content containing a person's likeness may not imply that the model engages in immoral or illegal activities or suffers from physical or mental infirmities, ailments, or conditions.

🚫 Use the Content in a manner that competes with StoryTribe's business, such as displaying content for download or export, or offering content for sale.

🚫 Incorporate the Content into any product that results in the redistribution, re-use, or makes the content available in a way that allows people to extract, access, or reproduce the content as an electronic file.

🚫 Take the Content created through StoryTribe and repackaging them as part of a collection or bundle for distribution or sale, either digitally or physically.

🚫 Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the source code contained within the Content, if applicable.

🚫 Develop templates or design assets using the Content with the intention of selling them as pre-made resources for others to use in their projects.

🚫 Use or display the Content in an electronic format that enables it to be downloaded, exported, or distributed via mobile devices or shared in any peer-to-peer or similar file sharing arrangement.

🚫 Misrepresent the origin or authorship of the Content created through StoryTribe, claiming them as one's own or removing any attribution or credit associated with the original work.

🚫 Use or display Content in a manner that gives the impression that the Content was created by you or a person other than the copyright holder of the Content (including without limitation, by claiming ownership of, or exclusive rights to, the Content).

🚫 Use Content for any machine learning and/or artificial intelligence purposes, or for any technologies designed or intended for the identification of natural persons.

7. Violation of this Licence and Termination

StoryTribe will monitor your account and designs to ensure compliance with this Licence and our Terms. This may involve tracking downloads, exports, and retaining details of your StoryTribe designs, as well as monitoring any abuse of your username and password. If you breach this licence, we reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account without prior notice.

In case your account is terminated due to licence violation or abuse of username or password, you will forfeit all rights to Content and StoryTribe designs. You must promptly delete all Content and StoryTribe designs obtained from StoryTribe and relinquish any fees paid.

You can terminate your Content licence by deleting the Content and StoryTribe design, along with any copies or archives and accompanying materials (if applicable), and by ceasing any further use of the StoryTribe design. StoryTribe reserves the right to terminate these Content licences without advance notice if you fail to comply with any of its terms. In such cases, you must immediately: (i) stop using the Content and any StoryTribe designs containing the Content; (ii) delete or destroy all copies and archives of the Content and any StoryTribe designs containing the Content and accompanying materials; and (iii) if requested, provide written confirmation to StoryTribe that you have fulfilled these requirements.


8. Infringement claims

If you become aware, whether through StoryTribe or elsewhere, of a claim of infringement for which StoryTribe may be held liable, you must cease using the Content immediately at your own expense. This applies to threatened, potential, or actual claims. You must also promptly delete or remove the Content from your premises, computer systems, and storage (electronic or physical). Additionally, you should ensure that your clients, printers, or ISPs do the same. It is essential to inform StoryTribe as soon as possible by sending an email to [email protected].
