Welcome to StoryTribe! These terms and conditions (“Terms”) apply to your (“you” or “your”) use of StoryTribe’s visual communication platform (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree that these terms will become a legally binding agreement between you and the StoryTribe Contracting Entity identified in these Terms (“StoryTribe”).
StoryTribe Ltd. is a company registered in the United Kingdom. By using the StoryTribe website and web application, you acknowledge our company's registration and location.
1. Overview
StoryTribe is a visual communications platform that empowers people to express their ideas, concepts, or stories visually through the technique of storyboarding. Within this legal document, any resulting creation from this process is termed a 'storyboard.' When you use the Service, you’ll have access to a variety of content provided by StoryTribe and other content providers to use in your designs (“Licensed Content”). Your use of the Licensed Content is subject to the Content License Agreement. You also have the option to upload your own content (“User Content”) which you have full control and responsibility over. You can use Licensed Content, your User Content, and tools available in StoryTribe to create your storyboards.
By using the Service you acknowledge StoryTribe’s Privacy Policy.
2. Acceptable Use
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Application. You may use the Application only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms.
3. Intellectual Property
All content included on the StoryTribe web application, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of StoryTribe or its content suppliers and protected by UK and international copyright and trademark laws.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties
The StoryTribe web application is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, as to the operation of the app or the information, content, materials, or products included on the app.
5. Software Waiver
While we strive to provide a smooth user experience, occasional software glitches may occur. By using the StoryTribe web application, you accept that such issues may arise.
6. Scheduled Maintenance
We will provide advance notice of scheduled maintenance that may temporarily restrict access to the application. Your understanding and patience during such times are appreciated.
7. Force Majeure
Events beyond our control, such as fire, storms, floods, war, invasion, civil unrest, labour strikes, infrastructure failures or other similar occurrences, may disrupt our services. In such cases, we will make reasonable efforts to minimise disruptions.
8. Limitation of Liability
We will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising from the use of the StoryTribe web application, including but not limited to direct, indirect, incidental, punitive, and consequential damages.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold StoryTribe and its affiliates, officers, agents, and employees harmless from any claim or demand arising from your use of the StoryTribe web application or your violation of these Terms of Service.
10. Fair Usage
Users are expected to utilise the application responsibly and reasonably. Excessive data usage or creating an unreasonable amount of storyboards may be considered a breach of fair usage.
To ensure a balanced experience for everyone, we've set the following limits for the Free Plan:
- You can create up to 3 projects per account.
- Each project can have a maximum of 30 canvases.
- File storage is limited to 500MB.
For the users on the paid plans (monthly and yearly), which unlock additional features, we offer the following:
- Unlimited Projects: Create as many projects as you need.
- Unlimited Canvases: Explore your creativity with no canvas limits.
- Unlimited File Storage: Get more storage tailored to your creative needs.

11. Code of Conduct
You agree not to create or upload content that is illegal, infringing, defamatory, offensive, or violates the rights of any third party. Any form of misbehaviour, including offensive language or content, will not be tolerated. Users engaging in such behaviour may face temporary or permanent bans, and their membership may be terminated accordingly.
12. Account Registration
To use certain features of the Application, you may be required to register for an account. You agree to provide accurate information and keep your account credentials confidential.
13. Security Responsibility
Users are responsible for maintaining the security of their accounts. This includes using strong passwords and protecting both themselves and our platform from malware and unauthorised access.
14. Data Analytics and Tracking
We use Google data analytics to anonymously track user activity within the StoryTribe web application. This information helps us understand user behaviour and improve our services. By using our application, you acknowledge and agree to Google's data analytics terms and conditions.
15. Data Storage on Firebase
User data and information are stored on Firebase, a platform based in the European Union, known for its security and compliance with data protection laws. By using our application, you acknowledge and agree to Firebase's terms of service and data processing and security terms.
16. Image Storage on Amazon AWS
User-uploaded images are stored on Amazon AWS servers, located in various regions including the USA, UK, Australia, India, and Korea. Your acceptance and usage of our application indicate your understanding of and compliance with Amazon' AWSs terms and conditions.
17. Usage of Stock Photography from Unsplash
We use stock photography from Unsplash. Images from Unsplash are subject to their terms and conditions, and by using our application, you agree to adhere to Unsplash's guidelines.
18. Hosting on Vercel
Our website is hosted on Vercel. Your use of our application implies your understanding and acceptance of Vercel's terms and conditions.
19. Termination
The Company reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Application at any time.
20. Changes to the Terms of Service
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Your continued use of the StoryTribe web application after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms of Service.
21. Billing
a. Subscriptions and Renewals. If you are subscribing to StoryTribe, you can sign up for either a monthly or annual subscription. Your subscription will automatically renew on a monthly or annual basis as applicable. You can cancel your subscription at any time. If you cancel your subscription, you will not receive a refund or credit for any amounts that have already been billed.
B. Taxes. Your subscription fees are inclusive of all taxes unless otherwise specified in an agreement with StoryTribe, within the Service or on an applicable invoice. Tax rates are calculated based on the billing information you provide and the applicable tax rate at the time of your subscription charge.
C. Cancellation. You can stop using the Service and/or cancel your subscription at any time via your account settings. If you cancel your subscription you will not be entitled to a refund of any fees already paid and any outstanding fees will become immediately due and payable.
d. Free Trials and Pilots. StoryTribe may offer you a free trial or pilot to allow you to try our Service. StoryTribe reserves the right to set eligibility requirements and the duration for free trials and pilots.
At the end of your free trial, StoryTribe will charge the relevant subscription fee for the next billing cycle to your nominated payment method, unless you cancel your subscription prior to the end of the free trial. If you have access to a pilot, your access to the Service will cease if you do not enter into a paid subscription prior to the end of the pilot period.
e. Paid Beta Access. If you have purchased StoryTribe Beta access, your access will end either at the conclusion of the beta period or, if you have acquired extra/extended access, at the end of the purchased period.
You have the option to cancel your access at any time. However, cancelling your beta access will not result in a refund or credit for any previously billed amounts.
f. Changes to Pricing. StoryTribe reserves the right to change its prices at any time. If you are on a subscription plan, changes to pricing will not apply until your next renewal or thirty (30) days after notice, whichever is later.
22. Governing Law
These Terms of Service and your use of the StoryTribe web application will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom.
