Troubleshooting · Something's not working

An export or download failed

Export errors are almost always size or browser related: too many shots in one image batch, a download blocked by the browser, or a tab that ran out of memory. Smaller ranges and a fresh tab fix most of them.

  • "Full-quality export handles up to 30 shots at a time." Images only is capped at 30 shots per export (15 on a tablet). Use Shot range and export in parts.
  • "An error occurred during export. Please try again." The file was being built in your browser and something interrupted it. Try again in a fresh tab; for a long board pick a lower resolution or a smaller range. Very large canvases at 5x can exceed what the browser will allocate.
  • "Download failed." Something went wrong while the file was being built. Try again; if it keeps happening, export a smaller range of shots.
  • Nothing happens when you export. The browser blocked the download. Look for a blocked-download icon in the address bar and allow it, or check the browser's download settings. On iPhone and iPad, files go to the Files app's Downloads folder.
  • Frames are blank or white in the file. Those shots haven't been rendered yet. Open each one on the Canvas, wait for Saved to cloud, and export again. (Exporting a single shot without a frame shows "This shot has no frame image yet.")
  • Video: "Export didn't finish." The render didn't complete on our side; the message underneath says why. Retry, and split very long animatics. See Download as MP4.

If it keeps failing

Send [email protected] the project link, the layout, format and range you chose, the browser, and the message. Storyboard exports run in your browser, so the browser and its version matter.
