The editor is slow or freezing

StoryTribe runs in the browser, so a slow editor is usually the browser under load: a very long project, many tabs, or an extension. Here is what the app already does to stay fast, and what helps when it is not.

What to try

  1. Reload the tab. If loading stalls for 30 seconds the editor offers Refresh page itself.
  2. Keep one editor tab per project. Each open tab holds its own copy of the project and its own live connection; two tabs on the same project also show you as present twice.
  3. Close other heavy tabs and pause browser extensions. A private window is a quick test: if the editor is fast there, an extension is the cause.
  4. On the canvas, merge finished arrangements: select the objects, right-click and choose Flatten to turn many objects into one graphic.
  5. Update your browser, or switch to one from the supported list. Brave needs its shields adjusted first.
  6. If it keeps happening on one project, tell us which project and what you were doing through Help › Contact Support.
