The import review step

Review script lists every scene, shot and line found in your script. Split or join shots, untick anything you do not want, then add it to the project or replace what is already there.

The Review script step

After you paste a script or drop in a file, click Review. The Review script step shows what the import found, and nothing is written to your project until you press the button at the bottom.

Split and join shots

Scene headers divide the list. Inside each scene, thin lines mark where one shot ends and the next begins.

  1. Hover the gap between two lines. A faint + split marker appears.
  2. Click it to start a new shot at that line.
  3. Click an existing Shot line to join that shot back into the one above it.

The splits you leave here are the shots you get, so a quick pass now saves splitting and merging in the editor later.

Leave things out

  • Untick a line and it is struck through and left out of the import.
  • Untick a shot or a whole scene to drop everything under it in one go.
  • Scene descriptions and section titles have their own tickboxes as well.
  • Untick Project details, the row at the top, to skip the file's title page and any text above the first heading.

Everything still ticked comes through as written. A part-unticked shot or scene shows a dash instead of a tick.

Add or replace

An empty project has one button, Import. A project with shots in it offers two.

  • Add to end puts the new scenes after your existing ones and keeps every shot you already have.
  • Replace all deletes every shot in the project and rebuilds it from the script. Your drawings and images on those shots go with them.

Review properties

If your script labels lines (Camera:, Lens:, Location:), one more step appears. Each label gets a dropdown so you can send it somewhere.

  • A part of the script: Script, Voiceover, Dialogue, Caption or Note.
  • A shot property: any property the project already has, or Create property to make a new one named after the label.
  • Don't import: drop that label and its text.

Labels the app does not know are grouped at the bottom under Unrecognised labels, spelled the way the app spells it. Click Confirm import to finish.
