These articles were created to assist people with prototyping their ideas, but I never imagined this would lead to something more exciting than that ... well for me anyway!

One of my LinkedIn newsletter subscriber, Yunmie Kim (who I later discovered accidentally subscribed) was promoting some beautifully illustrated children's books, so I reached out to see if she was interested in turning them into apps. At first, she thought I was trying to sell her something; however, after I convinced her I was interested in a 50/50 partnership, she was willing to hear more.

Our conversation led us to realise that we both work in the same field, digital and user experience, and that we were actually on the same page in life. Yunmie showed me her user experience work and illustrated storyboards that she had created for her corporate clients and the framework and assets she had created to allow teams to create storyboards themselves, quickly.

This is where the StoryTribe spark was born.

So what is StoryTribe? It's an online tool we're building to help you quickly storyboard your business problems, customer pains, innovate ideas or present success stories with professional qualities in minutes.

During the last few months, we have been spending our evenings and weekends developing the prototype, and we are really close to releasing the minimal viable product. I have mostly been coding, and Yunmie has been creating a plan, UXing and designing (dream team).

Though the tool hasn't been released yet, we've tried to build everything in public, which has helped us gain traction and build a following. Our TikTok videos recently attracted 600k+ views, which allowed us to conduct a survey with 100s of respondents and learn valuable information.

To summarise ...

Don't be afraid to reach out. You never know where it may lead. I can't believe one simple email to a stranger could have developed into a real product with real potential. Yunmie told me recently that she felt we are 'soul-co-founders' and I agree.
